How to Place an Ad & Tips on buying an Amphicar

"Cars for sale" Ads will be removed without warning after 3 months.
If you want your ad re-posted, it will have to be re-submitted to us.

HOW TO PLACE AN AD

Amphicar-related ads for Members of the International Amphicar Owners Club are absolutely free and will also run in the bi-monthly Club Newsletter, which is mailed to over 300 Club members worldwide, many of whom may not have home access to the Internet.  Club Members can place an ad by simply emailing it to the Club Prez.  Feel free to attach a few scanned photos of the car or other item or service being sold.  To place an ad by email, please click here (Members Only PLEASE...and yes, we do know who we are).  To join the Club, please click here.

Businesses and Non-members can place an ad here and in the Club Newsletter for only $10.  To send your $10 payment by credit card using the Club's secure PayPal service, please click here.  After payment is complete you will be directed to an ad submission page. Alternatively, you can mail your ad, photos (we'll scan them) and a check or money order for $10 to:  International Amphicar Owners Club, 10414 Mountain Glen Terrace, San Diego, CA 92131.

Advertisements will run for at no more than three months or two Newletter issues, whichever comes first.  To appear in the forthcoming Newsletter issue, your ad must be received by 15th of the month prior to the Newsletter being published.  Newsletters are published bi-monthly in January, March, May, July, September and November.

All ads for cars must include a price, and no car or other singular item put up for sale here may be the object of a concurrent online auction such as eBay.  We've already got an excellent link for Amphicar-related eBay auctions in the Tips for Prospective Web Toed Motorists section at the top of this page anyhow. Besides which, such "double-dipping" all but ensures a guaranteed waste of time for potential buyers here, since a particular item cannot be legally sold at any price while it is the subject of an auction once a valid bid is placed.  If you decide to auction an item that's already up for sale here, please let us know so we can remove your ad for the duration of the auction. The obvious exception is where there is more than one of an object being sold.

The Legal Fine Print: The International Amphicar Owners Club (hereinafter known as "The Club") accepts no responsibility for the accuracy of the descriptions, representations or prices given in these advertisements.  Buyers and sellers do so at their own risk, and The Club will not be held responsible for any losses, damages, hair loss or kickings of beloved household pets that may result from any party or parties engaging in any relationship, whether commercial or between consenting adults with grease guns loaded with delicious low-fat Coolwhip®, that may ensue as a consequence of any contact fostered here.

TIPS FOR PROSPECTIVE WEB TOED MOTORISTS

Those looking for an Amphicar to buy, especially first time buyers, should be encouraged to memorize Mike Israel's excellent and comprehensive Amphicar Buyer's FAQ, which has recently been updated and revised.   Another popular place nowadays for buying and selling Amphicar parts, collectibles and whatnots, sometimes entire cars, is ebay.  To perform a worldwide search for all current Amphicar-related auctions in progress that also filters out most of those time wasters who are really selling something like grommets for a '62 Snordley, but who just lobbed the word "amphicar" into the auction's text as part of a spammy "calling all cars" bait-n-switch come-on, just click here

You should also be aware that even though you may have seen a few cars advertised for boat-loads of cash, it DOES NOT mean they are getting that price! We have seen those overpriced cars too, and they rarely (if ever) sell at even close to that price. Do your homework by asking a club member or restoration expert what they believe the car may be worth. It could save you that preverbal boat-load of cash you will need to restore it.

Elsewhere, primarily serving our amphibious motoring friends outside of North America (and usually vehicles other than Amphicars) you'll find René Pohl's Amphibious Marketplace in Germany and Hans Rosloot's Wanted Ads for Amphibians in the Netherlands. Both sites are in English.
